Does your Bathroom need a Makeover
The bathroom is an essential room in any home and making sure that your bathroom looks good and feels good will ensure that it’s a calm and relaxing place. With the focus in recent years on relaxation and meditation, a beautiful bathroom can be the ideal place to chill out and refresh yourself at the end of a long and busy day.
A carefully chosen bathroom suite can make all the difference to how comfortable your bathroom is to use. If you have particularly tall members of the family, it could be worth looking at some of the larger bath tubs that are on offer these days. A small bath that is hard to lie down and relax in can be quite difficult to use for taller people and prevent them from really enjoying what should be a pleasurable experience.
Most homes these days also have showers fitted. Whether this is a shower that’s fixed over the bath with a shower curtain to prevent spray, a totally separate unit in the bathroom or a separate room altogether, showers are a great way of freshening up in next to no time. Even if you prefer a bath, if you have a busy lifestyle, chances are that you shower several times a week just to save time.
For large families, having a separate shower room can make a huge difference in how quickly everybody manages to get themselves ready in the mornings. There’s nothing worse than being in a hurry to leave for work or school and having to hang around waiting to bag the bathroom next – it stops you from doing some of the other chores you need to see to before you can start the day. Showers can be a big time-saver and you can literally get yourself clean all over in a matter of minutes, leaving you to start the day as fresh as a daisy!
Bathrooms come in all shapes and sizes and there are bathroom suites in so many colours and designs that choosing the right one can seem a bit overwhelming! You need to think carefully about the following considerations:
- How many people are in the household?
- Is there a second bathroom or shower available in the house?
- Do you prefer to bath or to shower?
- Do you have a separate room that could be used as a toilet or will the toilet be situated in the bathroom?
- How much space do you have available?
If you have a large number of people living in the house, you will need to make sure that the bathroom suite is sturdy, hard-wearing and easy to clean. If you’re a couple or a small family, you can probably go for a less practical choice that’s more of a style statement.
If you have a second bathroom or shower available, this can mean that you can have one bathroom for the kids and another for the adults. The kids’ bathroom could be decorated in a fun-style and you could have some of the modern safety features included while the adult bathroom could be more sophisticated with some of the luxury features that would enhance the bath time experience and leave you calm and relaxed.
A big issue is whether or not to have the toilet in the bathroom. If you’re lucky enough to have a separate room for the toilet, this gives you the best of both worlds. It’s always a real hassle if you’ve just settled down into a lovely deep scented bath with loads of bubbles and you get somebody knocking on the door asking you to hurry up as they need the loo!
When it comes to space, you generally have to work with whatever you have available. However, if your bathroom is really tiny and you’ve decided to have a complete makeover, it might be worth considering if you could enlarge the bathroom slightly while you’re at it. It might be possible to use some hall way space for this or part of a bedroom. If the rest of the house is large and you have spare bedrooms, it could be a great idea to move the bathroom altogether into one of the bedrooms. This would enable you to have a much larger bathroom and give you a much wider range of bathroom suites to choose from. The original bathroom could then be used as a separate shower-room, toilet or storage space. If none of these options are practical, then don’t despair – there are plenty of innovative solutions in bathroom suites nowadays that don’t break the bank and will allow you to make the most of the space you have so that your bathroom is ideal for you. One option that more and more people seem attracted to is to get rid of the bath altogether and go for a luxury shower – it saves time, it saves space and it saves water and money!
